The program will initially last for 3 years. Each year 2 employees from Soria Moria will be able to spend 12 months working in Quality Hotel Expo, while 2 employees from Quality Hotel Expo will spend 12 months working in Soria Moria Boutique Hotel.

In October Malin Johansson and Josefine Stark from Quality Hotel Expo will participate in a 2 week preparatory seminar in Bangkok, before arriving Cambodia – their new home for a year. During their stay, they will be able to work across different departments of the hotel, and learn about the hotels outreach program and sustainability policies.
At the same time, Eam Chandy and Real Maridet from Soria Moria will travel to Oslo – their new home for a year. Both Maridet and Chandy comes from poor farmer families, and neither of them have ever been outside Cambodia before. During their stay there they will be able to work across different department of a hotel, and learn more about the western culture and mindset and their approach to sustainable tourism with focus on caring for the environment.
Quality Hotel Expo is an innovative new conference hotel located at Fornebu. The hotel has 301 guestrooms, 4 food & beverage outlets and 13 conference rooms With capacity for over 1100 people. As Oslo’s only beach hotel it is also ideal for leisure travellers. Quality Hotel Expo is a part of Nordic Choice Hotels, and has a philanthropic philosophy and a CSR program called we Care. Quality Hotel Expo believes believe in diversity, and has a multicultural environment with employees from 24 different nationalities. Quality Hotel Expo was recently named the “New Hotel of the Year” in 2012.
Soria Moria Boutique Hotel is a 38-bedroom hotel set up as a social enterprise near UNESCO’s World Heritage site Angkor Wat. The hotel works with sustainable tourism development, and focus is placed on empowerment of the impoverished population in the areas surrounding Angkor Wat, through tourism, educational capacity building and economic development. The employees, whom all come from impoverished backgrounds, have become majority owners in the business. The goal is for the local employees to own and manage the business independently and continue to help developing their own community. The hotel has over the recent year been honoured with several accolades and international industry awards for its outstanding work with the local communities. In 2012 the hotel was a finalist in WTTC’s Tourism For Tomorrow Awards, won Wild Asia Responsible Tourism Awards and Virgin Holiday Respnsible Tourism Awards. In 2013 the hotel was listed on Rockefeller Foundations 100 Innovators Gallery and won Conde Nast Travellers World Savers Awards that will be presented in September 2013 in New York.
