The first year of the employee exchange program between Soria Moria Boutique Hotel and Quality Hotel Expo has been a great learning experience.

The 4 first participants, Josefine, Malin, Maridet and Chandy, are now back in their respective home countries where they will spend the next month sharing all their new experiences with their colleagues.

Malin & Josefine from Norway/Sweden has worked a year in Cambodia, and Chandy and Marideth from Cambodia have worked a year in Norway.

Throughout the year they have worked across all the different departments of the hotel, seen  development projects and volunteered in NGO’s.  They have experienced different tourism destinations, learned about positive and negative impacts and aspects of tourism, the principles of responsible & sustainable tourism, and they have had the pleasure of interacting with travellers from all over the world.

The main objectives of the exchange programe are exchange of industry skills, capacity building,  improved cultural awareness and enhanced knowledge of Asian and European cultures, as well as sharing best practices.

Our homecomming participants and the new participanst receive certificate from Norwegian Ambassador in Thailand, and Grethe Thingelstad, Deputy Director of FK Norway.

At the end of the exchange the participants attended a homecoming seminar in Bangkok, together with FK participants from around the world. The seminar focused on how to share the experiences and new knowledge learnt during the exchange.

The homecoming participants  also got to share their experience with the new group of participants on their way out on a new round of the exchange.

This year’s participants are Kristoffer and Magnus  from Norway who will work one year in Cambodia, and Samnieng and Poch  from Cambodia who will work one year in Norway. They all attended a 2 week long preparatory course in Bangkok.
